Operating Model

Platform teams have become the default recommendation for technology operating model redesign. The model is right for some contexts and wrong for others, and applying it indiscriminately creates new problems.

Technology roadmaps fail not because the technology choices are wrong, but because the operating model that will run the technology has not been redesigned to match it. You can deliver the platform and still block the roadmap. The people, processes, and governance structures around it were not part of the plan.
